Bay Area Forest & Beach School

Our Story

​

As a longtime early childhood educator I have always wanted something more for our schools. As a new mom I found myself taking my child and dogs out on long adventures and often found myself in total awe. The beauty of it all, Northern California is so abundant.

As time went on with my new baby, the thought of whether or not I would go back to the classroom was constantly in the back of my mind. I didn't want to give up the mornings in the middle of the week where I was out exploring in such beautiful natural settings together with my child. I knew the research proved that being out in nature has countless positive impacts on our children (and us). I also knew the importance of early childhood education and found myself at a crossroad. Do I send her to preschool? But what about our nature adventures together during the week? I thought, what if I brought my child along with me as I shared my teaching experience with the community?

Although I always made it a priority to include the natural world within my classroom space, nothing is the same as actually walking barefoot on the beach,

riding the ferry and feeling the wind on the bay,

or seeing Mount Tam up close. 

This is the inspiration behind Bay Area Forest and Beach School.

A school created by a teacher with the heart of a mom at our core. 

With a Master's in Early Education and nearly fifteen years of classroom teaching experience, I can confidently share that I know the magic that happens inside those classroom walls. I've dedicated my career to making learning special, magical, and loved by the children in my classes. Now it is time for me to open up that classroom, to share my teaching experience with my community, but to have our classroom be

mother nature.
